On-Demand Access To Technical Knowledge -- Right On Your Shop Floor

Imagine having an experienced, knowledgeable go-to guy on your shop floor coaching your technicians to effectively trouble-shoot prominent equipment failures. This coach works every shift and doesn't take a break. This coach is a shop-floor kiosk called Sentio.

The transit industry has faced a constant challenge in maintaining equipment - how to implant knowledge in new hires from your most experienced technicians. A technician with limited experience can actually induce a failure on equipment being repaired. Not knowing the correct repair procedure costs money in virtually every instance. Sentio can significantly reduce this risk.

Sentio was developed by Bombardier's Technology Solutions team to provide on-demand access to technical knowledge. It is a turn-key solution that includes hardware, software, and the critical element of identifying, gathering, and documenting technical solutions to a maintenance facility's most prominent equipment failures.

The Sentio kiosk is loaded with procedures to correctly repair equipment failures that have been identified as most critical. It uses "artificial intelligence" software to quickly diagnose the fault and give the correct repair procedure. Sentio diagnoses the fault by asking a series of questions about the symptoms of the failure. The technician's answer to each question determines the next question, zeroing in on the correct procedure to give.

The repair procedures are loaded into Sentio by Bombardier's Technology Solutions team. The procedures are determined by root cause analysis of delays and failures. The Technology Solutions team gathers supporting information, and documents the procedures. Procedures include step-by-step repair instruction with photos, required tools and equipment to use, specs on necessary components (eg: fastener type/size/material/threading, Lubricant properties, etc.), a list of checks to perform, part numbers, audio clips, short videos, links to supporting documentation, and warnings of hazards.

The kiosk itself is built to withstand ambient dust, liquids, and other conditions common to a transit maintenance environment, but Sentio can also be accessed on a supervisor's PC, or a hand-held mobile device.

Your organization has a vast amount of knowledge and information through the experience and talented people in your workforce. Having this expertise available on-demand increases the efficiency of your technicians, and boosts your shop's turn-around time. Sentio ensures that faults are "fixed right the first time", so your fleet can spend less time being serviced and more time being in service.
